Is The Frog A Native of Ireland?

Notes From the Biological Institute of Invasive Species

My grandmother, who I find was born on the 6th of January, 1726, used to tell me, that when a girl at school she was taken some distance to see a frog that was exhibited as a show…”

W. Thompson, ‘Natural History of Ireland’, Vol. IV., 1856

I had forgotten about this one. The frog on first sight does not look like a creature of the medieval battlefield with predictive powers that gives us a sense of what the future may hold.

But it is.

Need to let go to reach it, lose all sense of what species are and instead look at it as a kind of thing, in this case a venomous object, like a snake or a toad.
